I decided to do this topic because it is such a common question people ask, but there is no clear answer. At first, my roommate and I both believed that money cannot buy happiness. But after we began talking we realized that we have been conditioned to believe that work is the most important thing in life. Based on how our society is set up for you to attend school for nearly twenty years and then work for the next forty years and then you can finally retire and do the things you've always wanted to do. Although as a society we agree that money is not everything, the basis of the American Dream is work hard and play later. Towards the end of our conversation we began to compare older generations to Millenials and Generation Z who are more likely to take gap years and quit their jobs to follow their dreams and passions. The conclusion that we eventually came to was that money does not buy your happiness, but it definitely makes life more fulfilling.
For this podcast, I combined three audio files. The first audio file that I edited was the interview that I did with my roommate. I used several of her answers to build the podcast. After listening to the answers that I wanted to keep, I rerecorded myself asking the questions. I also added an introduction and conclusion as part of voice-overs. After listening to the interview, I realized that the podcast was a little boring and had awkward pauses in the audio. I decided to add an audio file to liven up the interview. I faded the music into my speaking and raised the volume of the speaking during the music. I lowered the volume of the music all together so that you could hear the voices at all times.
If I were to do this project again, I would make sure that the background noise was gone. It was very obvious when I switched from one interview to the voice over because of the noises in the background. I also would make sure that the interview was slightly longer so that I would have more audio to cut and work with.
